Yellow Bird Recipe

Yellow Bird recipe — The tropical charmer who's sunnier than your most optimistic friend on vacation. Made with rum. Originally from Barbados.

I'm that effortlessly cheerful friend who shows up with a ukulele and somehow makes it endearing. I never have a bad day and my golden glow makes everyone around me feel like they're on permanent vacation. Warning: I may cause spontaneous steel drum music to start playing in your head.

The Yellow Bird was allegedly created in the 1960s at the Aviary Bar in Barbados, where bartenders would literally watch yellow canaries while mixing drinks for inspiration. The bar kept actual songbirds as décor until health regulations shut that down in the 1980s.

Born in the sunny Aviary Bar of Barbados during the 1960s tourism boom, the Yellow Bird was crafted to capture the island's golden sunsets in liquid form. Local bartenders wanted a drink as bright and cheerful as the tropical birds outside their windows.
