White Russian Recipe

White Russian recipe — The Big Lebowski's drink of choice — smooth, creamy, and permanently chill. Made with vodka. Originally from United States.

I'm the laid-back friend who never gets stressed about anything. Sure, I'm basically dessert in a glass, but I own it completely. I prefer bowling alleys to nightclubs and think bathrobes are acceptable evening wear.

The White Russian was a relatively obscure drink until The Big Lebowski made it famous in 1998. Jeff Bridges' character The Dude drinks nine White Russians throughout the movie, single-handedly reviving this forgotten 1960s cocktail.

Created in the 1960s as a creamy variation of the Black Russian, which itself was invented in 1949. The addition of cream transformed a simple vodka-coffee liqueur combo into something resembling an adult milkshake that bartenders weren't quite sure what to do with.
