The egg white version called a Boston Sour creates a silky foam. Many bars skip it. The ones that do not are worth going back to.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Bourbon whiskey (Buffalo Trace or Woodford Reserve)
- 0.75 oz Fresh lemon juice (freshly squeezed only)
- 0.75 oz Simple syrup
- 1 Egg white (optional but recommended for foam)
- Ice (for shaking)
- 1 Maraschino cherry (garnish)
- 1 Orange wheel (garnish)
Instructions
- If using egg white, dry shake all ingredients without ice first for 15 seconds.
- Add ice and shake hard for another 15 seconds.
- Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
- Garnish with cherry and orange wheel.
