Rusty Nail recipe — The gruff Highland carpenter who fixes everything with whisky and honey liqueur. Made with Scotch whisky. Originally from United States.
I'm the bartender's bartender—no fuss, no fancy garnishes, just two ingredients doing honest work. I taste like a campfire story told by someone who's seen some things. Don't expect small talk, but I'll warm you up from the inside out and never let you down.
The Rusty Nail became wildly popular in the 1960s when the Rat Pack, especially Frank Sinatra, made it their signature drink. Sinatra was so obsessed with it that he'd reportedly order cases of Drambuie to be sent ahead to venues before his performances.
Created sometime in the 1930s-40s, the Rusty Nail gained its evocative name from the practice of stirring it with an actual rusty nail in some dive bars. The drink hit its golden age in the 1960s when it became the unofficial cocktail of cool cats and lounge singers.
