Dark and Stormy recipe — The moody sailor who's equal parts swagger and tropical wanderlust. Made with dark rum. Originally from Bermuda.

This drink is legally trademarked by Gosling's Rum in Bermuda. If you don't use their black rum, you technically can't call it a Dark 'n' Stormy — they've sued people over it.

Born in Bermuda after World War I when the Royal Naval Officer's Club started mixing Gosling's Black Seal Rum with ginger beer. British sailors needed something strong enough to weather actual storms, so they created this liquid courage.

Ingredients

• 2 oz dark rum (Gosling's Black Seal preferred)
• 4 oz ginger beer (spicy variety works best)
• 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
• 1 cup ice

Instructions

1. Fill highball glass with ice.
2. Add lime juice and ginger beer to glass.
3. Slowly pour dark rum over the back of a bar spoon to float on top.
4. Garnish with lime wedge and give one gentle stir before drinking.
