Baby Guinness recipe — The pub crawler who peaked in college but still shows up to every reunion. Made with coffee liqueur. Originally from Ireland.
I'm the shot that looks way more sophisticated than I actually am. Sure, I may look like Ireland's finest export, but I'm really just coffee liqueur with commitment issues and a Bailey's hat. I'm the drink equivalent of wearing a tuxedo t-shirt—formal on top, party on the bottom.
Despite its name and appearance, the Baby Guinness contains zero actual Guinness beer. The drink was invented as a novelty shot that tricks people into thinking they're drinking a miniature pint of the famous Irish stout, when it's actually just layered liqueurs.
Created in Irish pubs during the cocktail renaissance of the 1990s as a novelty shot that would fool patrons into thinking they were getting a tiny Guinness. Bartenders loved it because it looked impressive but was actually quite simple to make.
